Brief Description:
One of the slower moving, smaller species.
Nesting habits:
This is a mound building species. Take a walk through Brisbane bushland and you will see light brown coloured arboreal nests up in the trees, on stumps, on power poles and posts or mound nests on the ground. They can also be found nesting in roof cavities or inside walls.
Favourite Food:
Considered less aggressive, this species damage wood in service however prefer weathered and decaying timber. Damage from this species in South-east Queensland is rarely structural, however damage to gyprock, decorative timbers and stored products containing cellulose (paper, carboard etc.) is a common sight to a termite inspector in the Brisbane area.
